The Cochrane Collaboration is overseen by a Steering Group, while other members of the Collaboration are organized into groups called entities, which include Centres, Review Groups, Methods Groups, Fields and Networks. In Canada, in addition to these Cochrane entities, the CCNC includes network sites and an advisory board.
There are over 1100 active members of The Cochrane Collaboration in Canada, including over 800 review authors. Some members are linked with the Cochrane entities based in Canada - five Review Groups, one Methods Group and two Fields. Others are involved in Cochrane groups based in other countries, but are supported locally by Canadian Network Sites. Canada is involved in The Cochrane Collaboration at all levels from the Steering Group, entities, consumer network, communications and knowledge transfer activities.
Cochrane Review Groups (CRGs) embody the central purpose of The Cochrane Collaboration because their members prepare and maintain Cochrane reviews. Review Group members can be researchers, healthcare professionals, consumers, or anyone who has an interest in a particular health problem or group of problems.
There are currently five Cochrane Review Groups based in Canada hosted by a variety of organizations. For a full listing of all Cochrane Review Groups, visit The Cochrane Collaboration web site at: http://www.cochrane.org/contact/entities.htm#CRGLIST.
