RevMan 5

Review Manager (RevMan) is the software used to prepare and maintain Cochrane reviews. It allows you to prepare the text, build tables, add study data, and conduct meta-analyses with Forest plot outputs. RevMan 5 works on multiple platforms, including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

For those of you familiar with RevMan, version 5 was released in March 2008. The new version goes beyond reviews of interventions to address reviews of diagnostic test accuracy, methodology reviews, and overviews of reviews. With a new, user-friendly interface, authors work in a single document that is easily shared with co-authors and editors. RevMan5 works as a client to the Cochrane Archie central server, which is used to manage Cochrane reviews for publication to The Cochrane Library.

Getting involved as a Review Author: If you have expertise in some aspect of healthcare, consider joining the relevant Cochrane Review Group. If there is not yet a group which covers your specialty, register your interest in being part of a new group. Being part of a Cochrane review group provides the support, resources and training to tackle a systematic review, and an international audience when your work is published in The Cochrane Library.
